Best Pet Hair Vacuums for Hardwood Floors!

Recommendations and Quick Reviews of the Best Pet Hair Vacuums for HARDWOOD Floors! (Updated for 2020)
Most newer homes are being built with all hardwood floors and this trend has spurred another trend in the floor care industry. Vacuum cleaner manufactures are turning their R&D resources to appliances geared to cleaning hardwood floors.
Hardwood flooring doesn’t require the strong agitation of a motorized brushroll to remove dirt like carpeting does. With carpet, dirt and debris becomes trapped in the carpet pile and must be loosened a lifted in order to suck it into the vacuum cleaner.
Whereas with hardwood flooring the dirt and debris remains on the surface. Gentle agitation helps loosen sticky dirt a to be sucked up but the problem is that most vacuums designed for carpet tend to push along any debris such as dog or cat food and pet hair. The spinning brushroll that works great on carpet flings the debris all over the room when your vacuuming hardwood flooring.
A Canister Vacuum is Still a Great Option for Hardwood Floors and Pet Hair!
For over half a century a good old canister vacuum worked just fine on hardwood floors with just a floor nozzle with some bristles on it. The forward and backward motion whisks the clingy dust lose to be sucked into the nozzle.
When you encounter pet hair or large debris such as pet food you simply rock the floor brush back a little to allow space for the debris to enter the vacuum nozzle. This technique works great and allows you to safely and effectively clean your hardwood floors. What could be simpler?
A Simpler Way to Vacuum Pet Hair and Debris from Hardwood Floors!
And just when we thought there was nothing left to invented, floor-care engineers have up with a clever design concept that virtually eliminates all but the most basic skill to operate a vacuum cleaner.
They figured out that using a soft cushy roller with some rows of bristles will roll over the larger debris, embracing it until its transferred under the suction port instead of flinging it all over the house. It works – and works great!
So far Dyson and SharkClean are the only manufactures offering their versions of this new technology.
Dyson with their NEW V8 Absolute Cordless and SharkClean with their Rocket Corded DuoClean model that uses two rollers.
RECOMMENDATIONS
Shark Rocket Complete w/ DuoClean HV382
This well-designed corded stick vacuum offers a revolutionary feature designed especially for cleaning Hardwood Floors.
It’s called “DuoClean” because it utilizes (2) spinning rollers instead of just one.
The Front Roller is soft or spongy and when it encounters a large chunk of dirt or debris such as pet food it rolls over it, embedding it while rotating it under the suction port before it gets to the spinning brushroll. The result is the debris gets sucked up instead of getting flung all over the floor.
The Rear Roller does its job of loosening sticky dirt and pet hair from hardwood floors or carpet just like a conventional upright vacuum.
This clever design has solved the age-old problem of vacuuming hardwood floors.
The Shark Rocket Complete w/ DuoClean HV382 easily converts to a hand vacuum for cleaning furniture and stairs giving it excellent versatility.

Another huge feature that makes the Shark Rocket HV382 such a great hardwood floor vacuum for pet hair is a top access Brushroll Garage. This allows you to easily access the brushroll from the top to clean away any long pet hair wrapped around the brushroll. In my opinion this feature should be standard equipment on every vacuum cleaner intended to be used for pet hair.
It has a large easy to empty Dust Cup to accommodate a lot of pet hair and debris.
Not only is the Shark Rocket Complete with DuoClean (HV382) an excellent hardwood floor vacuum, it excels on carpet or rugs.

At present the Shark Rocket Complete with DuoClean (HV382) is one of the best corded hardwood floor pet hair vacuums.
It’s a little on the heavy side at 9.9 lbs but the swivel steering and center of gravity make it very easy to operate and maneuver around obstacles
There are a couple of design features I haven’t warmed up to yet! It doesn’t stand by itself. It’s necessary to park it using the included wall storage dock or lean it against a piece of furniture. Judging from the Customer Reviews these two minor detractions are vastly outweighed by the very positive features and performance of the Shark Rocket Complete DuoClean (HV382)
