June 30, 2017 at 1:48 pmHi Kathy! Sorry your confused about which vacuum is best for your Berber Carpet. I think perhaps your confusion is a result of terminology used by the Carpet and Vacuum Cleaner Companies. Let me try and clarify for you. You SHOULD NOT USE A ROTATING or SPINNING BRUSH on Berber Carpet. If the vacuum you choose does have a rotating brush you need to be able to SHUT IT OFF as I have attempted to make very clear in this post. The carpet company you spoke with is saying the same thing basically. Some upright vacuums have a Manual Height Adjustment for the Vacuum Nozzle/Brushroll. If you adjust it to the highest setting, in theory, the brushroll will not contact the Berber Carpet. I do not recommend this strategy. I stand by my recommendation to SHUT IT OFF! Shark Upright Vacuums that I recommend DO have this feature. I agree, it is disappointing the Shark rep. wasn’t equipped to answer your question. Hope this helps, Will

June 28, 2017 at 2:20 pmWhen I called Shark customer service they were unable to recommend any of their vacuums for Berber or loop carpets. I was told to call the carpet company for advice. They could not provide any recommendations and one Shark CS rep had no idea what I was talking about as he had not heard of loop or Berber carpets. The Shark CS reps also could not tell me which vacuum had the best suction. Luckily, if you make a mistake with Shark, the vacuums are cheap unless they destroy your carpet I can’t get info. I was told by the carpet company the brush needs to lift up on berbers. Shark’s brush doesn’t lift up. I’m confused. I’m returning the Shark and I’m going to keep shopping.
