Tineco – the Company
Tineco is a division of Ecovacs Robotics, Inc.. It has offices and facilities located at 487 Bryant Street, 1st Floor San Francisco, CA 94107 USA, CustomerService@Ecovacs.com, 1 /844-326-8227.

Check Out this Cool Introduction VIDEO of the Tineco Pure One S12!
The introduction of a new cordless stick vacuum has become almost a daily occurrence. These engineering marvels have captured the imagination of those seeking a better and faster way to clean their house.
Until recently, a battery powered vacuum was more of a novelty than a serious household appliance. They were only good for supplemental cleaning but that’s about all. An old fashioned corded upright vacuum was the only option for tackling the really serious dirt in our homes.
The latest battery and D/C Motor technology has now made it possible for a battery powered vacuum to run long enough and strong enough to rival a traditional corded vacuum.
The S12 is Tineco’s latest model in a sequence of highly successful Cordless Stick Vacuum offerings.
NOTE: Because of the many advanced features of this vacuum this review is necessarily long and detailed.
Four Configurations to Choose From
The Tineco PURE ONE S12 is offered in (4) different configurations or package options: The Pure One S12 M Lite, S12 M, S12, and S12 PLUS.
Each model option includes different accessories and features and are priced accordingly.
This review focuses on the S12 as a base platform that can be ordered in one of four configurations, depending on your individual needs and your budget.
A complete comparison and recommendation of each option is provided below.
What to Expect
When your new Tineco PURE ONE S12 cordless arrives you will find that it is well-packaged for maximum protection from rough handling. Each accessory and component is segregated in it’s own compartment.
VERY EASY Set-Up!
It looks like a lot of complicated parts but setting up your new PURE ONE S12 is extremely easy.
I recommend that you grab the User Manual first and look over the list of accessories and components that are supposed to be included.
Then, lay them out on the floor or table to familiarize yourself with them and to make sure that nothing is missing.
The only difficulty you might encounter is assembling the Wall Mount/Charger unit. It comes in two pieces that snap together, but the User Manual shows you exactly how they go together.
The Tineco PURE ONE S12 is a sophisticated and complex machine. I highly recommend that before you attempt to operate it that you spend some time with the User Manual to get acquainted with its many features. This will assure that you have the most positive experience possible.
Tineco has progressively upgraded the suction power of its cordless vacuum line. Their first and very successful A10 Hero model develops 110W of suction power which is enough to deep clean low to medium pile carpet.
The new PURE ONE S12 produces 150W at Maximum Power that is sufficient to clean even Plush and Deep Pile Carpet. NOTE: All four S12 Packages have the same motor and same suction rating.
That’s less than Dyson’s V11 that generates 185W but the actual cleaning performance is negligible. (SEE: Tineco S12 vs Dyson V11 )
Keep in mind, there is more to cleaning performance that just strong suction.
LED Digital Display Screen
- Remaining Runtime function: As you vacuum you will see how many minutes of operating time remain, displayed in count-down format.
- Maintenance Alerts: An alert lets you know when the filter needs cleaning or if there’s a clog. This is a common complaint when cleaning pet hair using any vacuum.
- Dust Amount: This function enables you to see how much dirt/dust the S12 is devouring.
- Power Mode: See which power mode is being used, Manual or Auto.
I found the display fascinating and helpful to look at. The only problem I had is that its angled forward making it a little difficult to see while operating the vacuum. Its not a big deal but I would like to see Tineco perhaps incline the screen toward the operator in their next upgrade.
Basic Operation of the Tineco PURE ONE S12
To Turn On the machine you simply pull the trigger. It must be held in to continue running (similar to the Dyson V series). It requires very little effort to depress. However, if you get finger fatigue the S12 has a Trigger Lock located on the left side that you can engage for finger-off operation.
When the machine is turned on it is in the default AUTO mode and the SMART Suction and iLoop Sensor are activated. While the machine is static the suction remains at the minimum power. As you move the vacuum across the floor the suction power increases when the iLoop Sensor detects dirt. You will hear the the motor speed increase. The more dirt it detects the higher the suction until the dirt is ingested and then the power is automatically adjusted down to the minimum level.
One of the objections most people have when it comes to operating a vacuum is the high-pitched loud and annoying sound. Cordless vacuums depend on high rpm D/C motors to develop adequate suction power so they can be just as annoying and loud as a traditional corded vacuum.
The very first thing I noticed when I pressed the trigger switch of the S12 was how quiet it is. I could hardly detect if it was running.
Tineco has incorporated what they call Smart Noise Optimization into the S12 for Ultra-quiet operation. It harmonically reduces the noise of the PURE ONE S12 to as low as 71dB(A).
I was able to easily hear the TV and the alerts on my phone while vacuuming. None of my pets complained like they usually do when I vacuum. Even at MAX Power the S12 I found the noise to be very tolerable.
The Swivel Steering mechanism works well on the S12 and is easy to maneuver and keep in a straight line. It does rotate a full 90 degrees for maneuvering around any obstacle.
I found the S12 easy to push on hard floors and low pile carpet. Medium pile carpet required a bit more effort although not as much as a full-size corded upright vacuum. Plush Long Pile carpet requires more effort as you would expect but shouldn’t pose a problem unless the operator is physically challenged.
Like most cordless stick vacuums, the Tineco PURE ONE S12 is designed to easily convert to a handheld vacuum. Every accessory that attaches to the wand also attaches directly to the main body including the motorized floor brushes.
Accessories and Attachments
Any of the Tineco Pure One S12 Model Options come with enough accessories and attachments to clean any area of the house. I found that each of the attachments are well-made and well-designed to do the job intended. Each one snaps decisively in place with one hand and detaches just as easily.
I especially like the Multi-Angle Folding Adapter (S12 and S12 PLUS Only). This accessory adds to the versatility of the machine, especially for overhead cleaning. It not only articulates a full 90 degrees, it also serves as an extension.
When used with the Dusting Brush attachment it makes cleaning Ceiling Fan Blades or high book shelves a snap. The average person should easily be able to reach up to 11 feet with no problem.
To eliminate any confusion please refer to the Side-by-Side Comparison Table near the end of this review to see what’s included with each S12 Package.
Build Quality of the Tineco PURE ONE S12
Overall I found the build quality of the S12 Cordless to be good compared to other models and brands I have reviewed.
The floor brush cleaning heads are excellent quality with good rubber-like tires for easy operation and maximum protection of wood floors. I did find it a bit difficult to remove the brush roll for cleaning. The good news is it shouldn’t require cleaning often because of its design.
As I mentioned, the attachments are well-designed and snap on and off easily with one hand. They are very functional and should last for years.
The main body is somewhat complex because with all the features but I did find the build quality better than average. I may be nit picking but the hinge assembly to the Dust Cup trap door is not as beefy as I would have preferred. Under normal usage I don’t believe it will present a problem.
The Dust Cup trap door latch is not what I would have expected from a product in this price range. It does function as intended but again, I would like to see it upgraded to be stronger.
Compared to other top brands such as the SharkNinja series and the Dyson V series I consider the Tineco S12 to be approximately the same build quality.
Since it is impossible for me to test the machine and components for longevity I can’t predict how long you can expect the S12 to last. Tineco warranties it for 2 years which is about the industry average. Keeping in mind that Tineco is a division of Ecovacs Co. that has been making quality robotic vacuums for years I would expect about the same longevity and customer satisfaction as their products have.
Voltage and Runtime
- The Pure One S12 LITE and S12 M come with two 2000mAh battery packs that provide Up to 80 minutes of runtime each.
- The Pure One S12 and Pure One S12 PLUS come with two 2500mAh battery packs that provide up to Up to 100 minutes of runtime each.
Charging and Storage
There is a separate dock for the removed battery pack so it can be recharging while you operate the vacuum. When the vacuum is returned to the Station the installed battery pack begins recharging.
Each battery pack has a small LED that emits Blue while charging. It is safe to leave either or both batteries in the charging station even after they are fully charged.
I found it took approximately 3 to 3 1/2 hours to fully recharge the batteries.
The Wall-Mount Docking/Recharging Station accommodates two attachments as well as the vacuum and second battery pack. I found it to be attractive and takes up minimal space. It comes with the necessary mounting hardware. In case you don’t want to mount on your wall you can simply lay it on the floor adjacent to a receptacle for recharging.
Test Result Scores of the Tineco Pure One S12 from 0-10

|**||w/ Soft-Roller Power Brush (S12 Plus ONLY)||10/10|

|FILTRATION||99.99% down to 0.3 microns||10/10|
Filtering System of the Tineco PURE ONE S12
Most cordless stick vacuums do not offer HEPA filtration because it restricts the flow of air, diminishing the suction. However, because of the high suction power of the S12 it isn’t an issue.
The S12 filtration system utilizes a Removable/Cleanable HEPA Pre Filter Cartridge that traps 99.99% of all the unhealthy micro particles such as mold spores, pollen, dust mites, and dust mite feces as tiny as 0.3 microns. It is located in the center of the dust bin. To remove it simply rotate it approx 1/8th turn and pull out.
This filter cartridge of the S12 is large enough that it doesn’t require cleaning as often as many cordless stick vacuums. However, when it does require cleaning Tineco has invented a unique system that utilizes the suction power of the vacuum.
Powered Rinse-Free Filter Cleaning Tool
This new tool makes filter cleaning so much easier than other First, remove the dirty cartridge and replace with included second clean cartridge (Included w/ Each S12 Model Option). Snap on the Automatic Pre-Filter Cleaning Tool ; insert the dirty filter cartridge; and turn on the vacuum. It will run for approximately 50 seconds, rotating the filter clockwise and counter clockwise against rows of bristles while extracting the accumulated dust from the filter screen.
I found that the vast majority of the dust ended up as small clumps inside the dust cup for easy disposal while a small amount stuck to the clean cartridge.
This is a revolutionary development for cordless stick vacuums. It eliminates one of the common complaints many users have with battery-operated vacuums – cleaning the filter.
The Automatic Pre-Filter Cleaning Tool is also available separately and will also fit Tineco’s earlier models: A10 and A11 Series.
The Tineco Pure One S12 requires only minor maintenance tasks that are important with any battery operated vacuum.
- Clean Filter regularly for maximum performance.
- Check Floor Brush occasionally for any loose hardware that could scratch floors.
- Keep batteries fully charged when not in use.
- Read the Operator’s Manual for Maintenance check list
Is the Tineco Pure One S12 a Good Investment?
When you consider the high cost of flooring it makes sense that you should take good care of it. Keeping it clean from damaging dirt greatly extends the life of both carpet, hardwood, engineered, Vinyl, stone and even tile flooring. The only practical way is with a good vacuum cleaner.
The Tineco Pure One S12 has a relatively high price tag for any vacuum cleaner. However, in addition to excellent cleaning performance, the S12 makes maintaining your entire home both easier and faster. With all the attachments and High Tech features this vacuum enables you to clean every area of your house without the hassle of a cord.
If you are a person who places a high value on your time and want the best cleaning experience available, I believe the Tineco Pure One S12 represents a wise investment.

THOUGHTS and RECOMMENDATIONS
Reviewing the Tineco Pure One S12 turned out to be a larger undertaking than I had anticipated. I discovered that exploring all of its many features and cleaning capability was actually quite enlightening as well as fun.
The S12 is without a doubt the most sophisticated and technically advanced cordless vacuum currently available. The SMART Features worked flawlessly in my testing and accomplished what they were designed to do – make cleaning your home faster, easier, and more efficient.
A New Industry Standard
The SMART Suction dramatically increases the operating time to the point where an entire cleaning session can be completed without having to stop and recharge. Of course this will vary, according to the size of your home and how often you vacuum.
This technology has captured the attention of the entire floor care appliance industry. I believe it will eventually become a standard feature with all the top tier brands.
A New Adventure
I found the attachments to be extremely useful and the Pure One S12 made cleaning a whole new adventure in my household. Instead of procrastinating I found myself looking forward to cleaning and experimenting with all the different attachments.
As you would expect with a product of this caliber, the price point is high and that’s definitely a consideration. However, if you are the type of person who values your time the Tineco Pure One S12 makes a whole lot of sense. In the long run it will probably save money by extending the life of your floors.
This vacuum has the potential to allow you spend more time doing the really important things in life and less time cleaning your house.
